This important 1976 publication book provides an essential critical survey of video art as it emerged as an artistic medium.
Edited by Ira Schneider and Beryl Korot, this rarely found surveys artists based in North America working with the then new medium of video. It presents entries on seventy artists, featuring their own writing, including Nancy Holt. Her contribution is the short essay “Some Notes on Video Works” where she discusses her 1974 video-sculpture Points of View. Other entries are by Vito Acconci, Lynda Benglis, Terry Fox, Dan Graham, Rebecca Horn, Joan Jonas, Shigeko Kubota, Dennis Oppenheim, Nam June Paik, Richard Serra, Michael Snow, the Vasulkas, and Bill Viola.
