Industriebauten 1830–1930 is the first publication devoted to the work of Bernd and Hilla Becher. Issued on the occasion of the artists' first public institutional exhibition, held at the State Museum of Applied Art in Munich, Germany, from March 6 through April 16, 1967, it includes a text by Wend Fischer.
The front inside cover of this first edition is inscribed in felt-tip pen, “für Bob Smithson von Bernd Becher.” This copy is from Nancy Holt's personal library. The presentation inscription to Smithson adds notable provenance to an already scarce early publication.
